Why Finance Cosmetic Surgery?

Anyone who has been to a doctor in the last twenty years knows the price of medical care just keeps going up. This is especially true when the procedure a patient wants is considered to be cosmetic, hence “elective,” by one’s insurance company. Cosmetic surgery usually runs as little as $500 or as much as $20,000, which is a lot of money to come up with out of pocket. Even worse, many people who undergo cosmetic surgery do it not for the sake of vanity, but so they can live a healthier and happier life, making the traditional insurance company attitude regarding plastic surgery all the more painful.  United Medical Credit’s plastic surgery financing programs are among the best in the nation. There are lots of reasons to consider cosmetic surgery, and this kind of surgery is not the sole province of women anymore. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ 2012 report, cosmetic procedures are up 5% overall from 2011, a trend which is predicted to continue. Among the different kinds of cosmetic surgery people commonly need and we can finance are:

Breast reduction:

Among men, treatment for gynecomastia (male breasts) increased by 5% from 2011 to 2012. Among women, breast reduction actually fell 2% in 2012, from 43,923 to 42,022.

Tumor removal:

Especially in areas that get lots of sun, benign skin tumors are far from uncommon. However, if the tumor is not properly removed, this can result in a divot or crater. Tumor removal is considered a cosmetic procedure because of the techniques used to minimize scarring. 4.2 million of these procedures were performed in 2012.

Laceration repair:

Accidents often result in deep cuts which leave scars. These are particularly traumatic when they occur on the face, but they require specialist assistance to correct the damage done to one’s skin. 291,000 of these procedures were performed in 2012.

Botox, or botulinim toxin type A as it is known in medical circles, has become an exceedingly popular technique for achieving fuller, more sensual lips, as well as correcting drooping eyelids or sagging brows. One of the biggest reasons for its popularity is its minimally invasive nature, requiring only a tiny injection for long-lasting results. Botox injections rose 8% in 2012 to 6.1 million procedures.
