A Few Things to Keep In Mind When Preparing For Surgery
As the big day approaches, it is important that both the mind and body be completely at ease. Your surgeon should give you some pamphlets containing information about the surgery. Read this material, but also make sure you have done your own research and know everything there is to know about the procedure you are about to undergo. You don’t want any surprises when the day has come.
Ask questions. There’s no such thing as a stupid question. If you are unclear about something, make sure you talk it over with your doctor. Taking notes might be a good idea, so that you can read them over at a later date to understand them better and feel less anxious about the upcoming surgery.
Take some time to do some post-surgery preparation. It is advisable to have somebody close to you to receive you after your surgery and arrange to take you home. You may even plan to have some healthy foods, pillows, magazines, and movies waiting for you at home.
Be prepared for doubts on the eve of the surgery. At this point, you should be confident with your decision, and understand that it’s normal to be nervous. You must deal with this calmly and effectively. Take a deep breath, and relax. If you have done your research and chosen a surgeon you trust, you have nothing to worry about.
